From what age can you start scuba diving?
Many organizations start as young as 8. We think that’s too early. At our center, we only start teaching children to dive with tanks from age 10. There are two reasons for this. 1. In a small percentage of children, the lungs aren’t fully mature yet, so we want to be safe. 2. The topics covered during the diving course need to be understandable to the child, so they know what they’re doing in the water. We find that children under 10 have difficulty understanding the material. So we prefer to wait, to create the right conditions for children to have the happiest and most successful experience possible.
How long does the beginner course take?
Diving needs to be learned properly so that we’re safe and understand exactly what we’re doing underwater. To master it properly takes about 36–40 hours.
Do I need a medical exam?
In Croatia, a medical exam is not legally required for recreational sport diving. As a professional center, we do require it. You can get the medical exam done at an occupational medicine practice. The exam is required for all diving courses. It’s not required for the Discovery Dive.
Can the course be split into parts?
Yes. With us, the course consists of three parts: 1. theory, 2. training in a pool or a protected open-water area, 3. open-water diving. By arrangement, these three parts can be split up and attended separately.
Do I need my own equipment?
As a beginner, you don’t need your own equipment. With us, equipment is included in the price. For advanced courses such as Advanced Open Water Diver, you need to have your own equipment.
What payment methods do you accept?
What matters to us is that you get to dive, so with us you can pay in cash, by bank transfer, by credit card, or in installments. We’re happy to adapt to your circumstances, and payment can be arranged by agreement.
Can the course be done over a weekend, or does it have to be done all at once?
It’s in both our interest and yours not to drag the course out — it’s better to complete it within the planned timeframe. Of course, if needed, we’ll adapt and complete the course during your free time.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, for groups of 4 people we offer a 5% discount. For groups of 6 people we offer a 10% discount.
Diving and high-pressure technology
I have a diving cylinder with no papers or certification — what now?
We’re one of only a few companies in Croatia authorized to carry out such inspections. 1. Under the regulations, every pressure vessel must be entered into a database at its first inspection. After that, it must be visually inspected inside and out every 2.5 years. And every 5 years, a hydrostatic test must be carried out. That interval can also be brought forward for a hydrostatic inspection if there’s damage. 2. If you have such cylinders, bring them to us and we’ll try to resolve the issue. For many manufacturers, we have access to their databases and can obtain those documents. Unfortunately, not all manufacturers offer that service.
Do you pressure-test cylinders yourselves, or through a partner?
At our company, we try to carry out all work in-house. When it comes to testing pressure vessels — whether intended for diving, firefighting, police use, paintball cylinders, air rifles, welding cylinders, air banks, LPG cylinders, or any portable or stationary pressure equipment — we test them exclusively in-house. For inspection, we use an agency authorized by the Republic of Croatia. We cooperate with all other agencies as well.
My cylinder is full from diving, but I can no longer open it — the valve won’t turn?
WARNING: Do not, under any circumstances, try to work on that valve yourself, or try to remove the valve from the pressure vessel. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. Bring the cylinder to us. We’ll resolve the issue under controlled conditions.
The air in my cylinder has a smell — how can I fix that?
It’s important that you don’t go diving with air that has a smell. The EN 12021 standard specifies the required quality of breathing air. It clearly states that it must not have any smell. If it smells of oil or emulsion, that’s difficult to fix yourself. For such problems, we have the equipment and means to remove the smell. Feel free to bring us the cylinder for cleaning.
How do I get my cylinder repainted?
Painting cylinders for diving versus for firefighting is different. Regulations specify exactly which work procedures and paints are permitted. We offer sandblasting inside and out, plus painting according to regulations.
Do you also service compressors?
Yes, as a company we’ve been in high-pressure technology servicing from the very beginning, and we work on compressors from all manufacturers. We’re well versed in this and work not only for Croatia but for the whole EU and, if needed, other continents. We offer regular compressor servicing in line with Croatian law and manufacturer requirements. We can provide a service contract and a replacement unit, all on favorable terms. Do you sell used compressors?
Yes, we have used, fully serviced compressors as well as new ones. We’ll take your compressor as a trade-in if you buy one from us. We always keep a few compressors in stock. Take a look at our offer.
My neoprene suit is damaged — can it be repaired?
Damage to neoprene is no reason to throw it away. At our company we carry out repairs professionally and affordably. We offer everything needed to repair your suit in our own neoprene workshop. We use exclusively industrial adhesives. We sew suits, replace neoprene panels, apply patches, and more.
I have used diving equipment — what should I do?
All equipment, new and used, must be safe for diving. As a rule, all diving equipment needs servicing once a year or every 100 dives. This applies to regulators as well as buoyancy compensators — in other words, any equipment with a technical function. Just in case, bring your used gear to us. We’ll give you honest advice and put together a service quote for you.
My dry suit is leaking somewhere, but I can’t find where?
We’re familiar with this kind of issue — it’s best to bring the suit to us. We’ll find the leak and patch it.
