Sun, sand and sea are the ingredients of unforgettable holiday memories — and when you add a bit of new knowledge, the experience becomes even more valuable. Charlie’s Summer School is a five-day program for children aged 7 to 14, named after Charlie, the mascot and trademark from our logo.
The program has three parts. The first two days are dedicated to coastal biology — we explore amphibians, reptiles, birds and the island’s plant life. On the third day it’s oceanography’s turn (sea currents, waves, tides, winds), and the last two days we learn about life in the sea. The program runs Monday to Friday, every day from 10am to 2pm, under the motto “play, have fun and learn” — with microscopy, building experiment boxes, taking samples and lots of teamwork.
Daily rhythm: the first hour is theory with a biologist on the day’s topic, then a short break, task assignment and project presentation, then field work lasting an hour to an hour and a half, and finally a round of sharing experiences and a small homework assignment. A minimum of two participants is required for the program to run.
